The Intersection Series
Begun in 2017, Intersections expands on a theme of human vs. nature. Variations of any growth pattern are likened to the motions made by the hand in writing, as well as the process of each emerging painting. Spontaneous and calligraphic lines paired with a schematic-influenced code board pose the starting point for each piece. The indirect method of painting - using a masking fluid to be removed later - also adds to the somewhat calculated surprise when finished.
Painted in gouache/acrylic on 300 lb. watercolor paper, they are mostly single paintings, 22" x 30". The Human + Nature painting is a diptych, allowing the ideas and constraints to build and grow.
