Luminous Ephemera
Luminous Ephemera began as a flattened version of the compositions made for the Whispers series. The piece grew to a surprisingly large form, stretching the width of the work wall, some 15 feet. Because it was made in sections of not more than 24" wide, those sections were completed little by little as the allover composition developed. The top of the piece is a reference to the edges of many plaited mats using the basketry techniques I have found so inspiring. References to quilts, maps, collages, and mats have been suggested, though it follows the trajectory of my interests in tiles, variation in nature, and the mathematical underpinnings of many natural phenomena.
