GeoFlo and Tesserea
GeoFlo and other works from this period came from the study of mosaics floors of Italian churches, mainly in Venice, Torcello and Aquileia. The mathematical arrangements of pattern, the variation for a variety of practical reasons, and the inconsistencies were a starting point. An interesting aspect of these patterns was their connection to the musical rhythms of 3/4, 6/8 or 4/4, sometimes used simultaneously in jazz music. When hexagons and squares are joined, the magic of possibilities arises, much as it does in complex rhythmic patterns of jazz and Afro-Cuban music.
Adding to these ideas: the element of time and the unpredictable growth of nature, it seeks to speak to this phenomenon. The Tesserea series came from these ideas: somewhat graphic, small and self-contained, like isolated corners not observed easily.
