Martie Holmer's large paintings, some on paper, some on canvas all show symbolic and expressively figurative references. Sometimes they have been related to a body of sculptural wooden works. Later pieces, such as the Bomb Drawings, seen in the recent exhibit "The Bomb Show: Martie Holmer and Sam Still", inhabit the space of idea and meaning. Their spacial references are purposefully blurred.
